45 days Preparation plan to crack IAS Prelims 2019 5

Civil Services Prelims Exam 2019, which is scheduled to be held on 2nd June 2019, is now just 45 days away. Preliminary Examination, being the very first stage, often keeps the candidates anxious and uncertain as to what to study, which books are good, how to remain focused, how to prioritize time, important questions and many other factors required to crack IAS Prelims 2019.

Looking at these dilemmas of aspirants preparing for IAS Exam, the team of IAS Educator has compiled the inputs and suggestions received from partnered experts and have prepared this 45 days action plan which will help aspirants get through the first challenge of Civil Services Exam and crack IAS Prelims exam.

Important advice to crack IAS Prelims 2019

It has proved time and again that Prelims Test Series not only boost confidence and helps aspirants get a fair understanding about the exam pattern and boost confidence, but also gives an idea on probable questions to be asked in the actual preliminary examination.

Do not miss to study these important books during these last 45 days to crack IAS Prelims 2019
  • You must have already studied NCERT books from 6 to 12th class of all subjects, but just in case you haven’t yet, study it now. NCERT is very important to form a stronger base and get in-depth knowledge of the subjects.
  • For Indian History; Read Modern India by Rajiv Ahir (Spectrum), struggle for Independence by Bipin Chandra and Fine Arts books of class 11th
  • For Indian Culture; Read book by Nithin Singhania
  • For Indian Polity; Read 5th Edition by Laxmikanth and The introduction of Constitution by DD Basu for specific topics
  • For Indian and World Geography; read Physical Geography by GC Leong
  • For Economic and Social Development; stay updated with Economic Survey, Union Budget 2018-2019 and Yojana along with NCERTS
  • For Current Affairs; read Hindu and Indian Express along with DNU (Daily News Update)

Now, let’s make monthly plan starting from today (first 25 days plan from now)

  • Make a time table to follow. Make sure you devote a good amount of time to your studies depending upon your ability. Devote at least 8 to 9 hours to preparation in a day
  • Split your time for each subject. Do not try to complete 1 subject completely and then another, because then you might miss most of the subjects because you do not have much time left now. So, if you have 9 hours study plan in a day, give 1 hour each to Geography, History, Economics, Current Affairs (although do not miss to read Newspaper and editorials every day) and Environment
  • Mind maps are very important, so practice making that
  • Keep 1 or 2 days in a week for just revision and taking solving test series. Test series will help you practice well and learn the art of intelligent guessing or elimination strategy
  • Make sure by the end of these 25 days, you get a sound understanding of the above-mentioned books and clear basic concepts
  • On weekends, spare some time to go out, indulge yourself in healthy discussions, watch movies and add some creativity in your life

You still have 20 days with you to strengthen your preparation process

  • Most importantly, REVISE
  • Solve previous year question papers as much as you can
  • Solve Mock Test papers
  • Spend at least 30 minutes in reading Newspaper
